(WHTM) — Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman says the state budget will not be done in time to meet the June 30 deadline.
It’s no mystery that budget negotiations have not gone smoothly. Sen. Pittman (R-41) held a press conference on Wednesday, June 18, to discuss the current situation regarding state budget negotiations.
Sen. Pittman says increases to Medicaid spending are a huge issue, and Pennsylvania can’t accommodate a $2 billion increase in Medicaid funding.
Another hotly contested issue without resolution is the taxation and regulation of skill games. Pittman said everyone agrees they need to be taxed, but no one can agree on how they will be taxed.
Pittman added that taxing and regulating recreational marijuana is not going to happen as part of the budget.
