ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Prosecutors dropped multiple domestic violence charges against former Winnebago County Deputy Jonathan Stoltz.

Attorneys filed for Nolle Prosequi on June 11, which is a Latin term that means the prosecution is discontinuing a criminal case before a trial starts or a verdict is given by a judge.

Stoltz, 35, was accused of strangling a teenage girl and causing her to have a concussion, according to court records.

The teen was later taken to a nearby hospital, where she was diagnosed with a fractured wrist, along with numerous bruises and scrapes.

Stoltz was placed on administrative leave in 2023. Illinois State Police handled the investigation.
