SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A few thunderstorms will be possible across the northern half of the ArkLaTex during Wednesday night. While severe weather can’t be ruled out, the risk is looking rather low. Once that ends, we will see little rain through next week.
Severe weather worries? The Storm Prediction Center continues to indicate that severe storms with damaging winds will be possible over mainly the northern quarter of the area Wednesday night. However, both Futurecast and the morning run of the HRRR model show the risk to be minimal. Upper-level high pressure will then prevent any severe weather concerns through almost all of next week.
Worry level: Given the agreement between Futurecast and the morning HRRR, I put my level of weather worry for the next ten days at 2 out of 10. We likely will have a slim chance for an isolated storm at times next week, but we likely won’t see any severe weather issues. 10-day rainfall totals will likely be below 1/2″ for most of the area.
Tropical Weather Worries? Still no worries in the tropics! The National Hurricane Center continues to show that tropical development in the Atlantic and Gulf is doubtful during the next week. Long-range models still show that the tropics could remain quiet for the next two weeks.
