CHICAGO (WGN) — Authorities are searching for answers on Thursday morning after a man was found fatally shot on the city’s Far South Side early Thursday morning.
According to Chicago police, officers were first called to the scene in the 9200 block of South Dobson Avenue, in Burnside, just after 2 a.m., following a report of a person shot at a residence in the area.
After officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with a witness who said they had discovered their 69-year-old family member unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his head.
Fire crews arrived on the scene and began treating the victim, but he was eventually pronounced dead on the scene.
Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting but police say they believe the incident was likely domestic related.
Officers said a person of interest was questioned in connection with the incident, but no arrests have been made.
An investigation is underway and authorities have not yet identified the victim killed.
