FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Fresno restaurant has been named one of the top restaurants in all of California, according to the Los Angeles Times.
In his review, Times food critic Bill Addison praised Saizon, calling it “the buzziest restaurant in Fresno” and commending its ability to deliver “impressive cooking in such a massive restaurant.”
Addison highlighted the lively atmosphere of the 5,300-square-foot space, noting it was nearly packed even during an early evening reservation.
Addison says the restaurant’s cocktail menu stood out, with patrons enjoying drinks like margaritas, lychee martinis, and frozen blood orange negronis.
Led by Chef Justin Shannon, Addison says Saizon’s modern American menu draws from several culinary genres, from seafood and small plates to steakhouse fare.
Addison wrote that “the fun came from hopping between them,” spotlighting dishes like cracked Dungeness crab legs with Dijonnaise and tomatillo vinaigrette, a guajillo-coriander rubbed flat-iron steak topped with chipotle butter, and broccoli loaded with garnishes ranging from crisped prosciutto to grilled-lemon vinaigrette.
Despite the size and buzz, Addison noted Saizon also delivered “personable service,” crediting a helpful server for directing him to Otherside Café in the same complex for a standout coffee and avocado toast the next morning.
Saizon is located in northwest Fresno at the Park Crossing complex, near Herndon and Palm avenues.
