AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) – The Aiken County Animal Shelter, along with Friends Of The Animal Shelter (FOTAS), is hosting a Summer Adoption Paw-ty this Saturday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adoption fees will be waived for all available pets, including puppies and kittens, with a limit of one free adoption per household.
Shelter officials say they have taken in roughly 500 homeless pets since the beginning of May, with many of them going into foster homes because they are too young to be rehomed right away. With such high intake numbers, the shelter is in urgent need of adopters and fosters.
“If we get a good turnout for this special event, it will give us a much-needed boost and make room in the adoption wing for dogs who are waiting in intake,” said FOTAS President Jennifer Miller. “We have a wide variety of terrific dogs and cats, and they all deserve a chance at a good life.”
The County Animal Shelter is located at 333 Wire Road in Aiken. Walk-ins are welcome. Adoption hours are 11:00 to 5:00 Monday through Friday, and 11:00 to 4:30 on Saturday.
For more information, call the County Animal Shelter, (803) 642-1537, option 3, or email info@fotasaiken.org.
