TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A former longtime sheriff for Terrebonne Parish has died, leaving behind a legacy of decades on the force.
According to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, former Sheriff Jerry Larpenter died peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, surrounded by family, friends and other members of law enforcement at a local hospital.
Larpenter leaves behind a legacy of almost 40 years of service, 30 of which were as sheriff, working with several different divisions and serving as a friend and mentor to many.
TPSO officials also say that Larpenter was known for his huge personality, demonstrating a love for Terrebonne Parish in his life.
