SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco police made dozens of arrests Tuesday in a narcotics enforcement operation targeting drug dealers in areas around the Tenderloin district, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
SFPD officers and deputies with the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office conducted buy-bust operations along Sixth Street, the 700 block of Golden Gate Avenue and Grove and Hyde streets. More than 380 grams of narcotics, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine base and heroin, were seized as authorities posed as buyers, Acting Police Chief Paul Yep said.
In total, 25 arrests were made.
“Our officers are relentlessly going after illegal drug activity in our neighborhoods, including the Tenderloin,” Yep said in a statement Wednesday. “Every day we’re seizing large amounts of deadly narcotics and helping improve conditions on our streets.”
The initiative was part of the Drug Market Agency Coordination Center, SFPD said, which was launched by former SF Mayor London Breed in 2023 to dismantle drug markets in the Tenderloin and South of Market neighborhoods.
The department said previous areas of enforcement operations, such as Seventh and Mission streets and United Nations Plaza, have seen “significant improvement in street conditions and reductions in crime.”
