Deputies urge to evacuate after Mariposa County fire

MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The sheriff’s office is urging residents in the Don Pedro area in Mariposa County to evacuate following a 10-acre fire.

The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office said the Band Fire was burning in the Don Pedro area near Banderilla Drive and Picadero Way. They encourage those in the area to evacuate now.

Cal Fire reports that, as of Wednesday evening, the fire is burning about 10 acres. No containment has been reported.

Deputies added that a temporary evacuation point was established at the Don Pedro Elementary School located at 2411 Hildalgo in La Grange.

Multiple roads are also closed in the vicinity, and power was turned off to the affected area.
