ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — With dangerous heat and humidity predicted for the Rockford area this weekend, Winnebago County is notifying residents of “cooling centers” where residents can go to get a break from the heat.
Forecast models show a disturbance quickly diving in Friday morning. This will help increase cloud cover for the start of the day as well as bring an isolated chance for an early-day shower.
Once this weak system moves out, skies will clear by Friday afternoon, allowing temperatures to quickly climb back into the mid 80s.
Afternoon high temperatures will surge well into the 90s Saturday through Monday, pushing heat index values near the triple digits each day.
Sunday will also be the running of the first IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon.
