SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Caddo Parish Sheriff Henry Whitehorn swore in a new honorary deputy on Tuesday, Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel. The 13-year-old has become quite a celebrity, being sworn into more than 1,000 law enforcement agencies.
Daniel was diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer in 2018. Since then, he and his father Theodis Daniel have traveled the country, visiting law enforcement officers. Daniel was even sworn into the Secret Service in March of this year. The father and son duo spoke at the NBC 6 Salute the Badge Banquet in May.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office posted this on their Facebook page: “We want to extend a huge shout-out to our new deputy at the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office! Devarjaye (DJ) Daniel was sworn in this afternoon by Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. He will be a great source of inspiration for all our deputies as he joins our team. Citizens of Caddo, you can rest easy knowing that we have a true hero among us!”
