Teen dies in Far South Side shooting

CHICAGO (WGN) – A teen has died after being shot on the city’s Far South Side Tuesday afternoon.

Chicago police said just before 3 p.m., officers were sent to the 2800 block of East 93rd Street in Calumet to investigate a traffic crash. When officers arrived, they found a Chevrolet that had struck at least one vehicle and a house.

Officers then found an 18-year-old man inside a vehicle who was shot in the back, according to investigators.

Police said the victim, later identified by the Medical Examiner as Johnnie Jackson Jr., was taken to University of Chicago Hospital where he died.

No arrests have been made and area detectives are investigating.
