LOVES PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — Loves Park Police arrested Gabriela Estrada, 26, for allegedly strangling and slapping a 5-year-old girl.
On May 21, the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) was investigating reports of physical abuse toward two children. Investigators sent both children to a local hospital.
Nurses determined that one of the children was injured by Estrada when the child told them she was slapped by the woman.
Estranda admitted to striking the 5-year-old, but claimed she did not intend to harm the child, authorities reported.
She is charged with aggravated battery of a child that caused bodily harm, domestic battery that caused bodily harm and aggravated domestic battery that caused strangulation.
