INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis metro police and firefighters responded to a three-vehicle crash on the city’s near northwest side that sent two people to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
According to IFD, first responders were called around 12:44 p.m. to the 1300 block of W. 16th Street in response to a reported collision involving three vehicles. IFD said that a dump truck reportedly struck two vehicles, causing one to flip on its top while the dump truck landed on its side.
The car began producing smoke after the crash as witnesses rushed to help the female driver out of the car to safety, IFD said. The drivers of the two other involved vehicles managed to exit on their own without any assistance. The driver of the dump truck was medically evaluated on the scene and released.
The two drivers were transported to Methodist Hospital for medical treatment. As of this article’s publication, IFD has not provided their exact conditions.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
