Police say naked Madisonville man grabbed officer’s weapons during arrest

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Madisonville police say they arrested a man on several charges, including indecent exposure and assault, after he reportedly grabbed an officer’s gun while officers attempted to arrest him.

Officers were dispatched to a report of a domestic incident on Wiman Drive shortly after 11 p.m. on Saturday. Authorities say officers arrived at the scene and found Robert Grigsby, 49, naked and sweating profusely as he attempted to shove two men keeping him from entering an apartment.

According to a release, officers attempted to place Grigbsy in handcuffs, but he pulled away and started screaming. Police say Grigsby grabbed an officer’s gun and refused to let go. Officers say Grigsby was forced to the ground, but he then grabbed an officer’s stun gun and spit blood onto his leg.

A woman at the scene reported minor injuries after Grigsby threw her inside the apartment. The same woman told authorities Grigsby was under the influence of psilocybin mushrooms. Officers at the scene say they also found Grigsby’s shorts, which reportedly contained hypodermic needles and methamphetamine.

Police say Grigsby continued to scream as he was being transported from the scene via ambulance, saying he would kill the officers.

Grigsby was booked into the Hopkins County Jail on Sunday, where he was charged with public intoxication, drug paraphernalia, assault, burglary, assault causing minor injury, trafficking in a controlled substance, resisting arrest, terroristic threatening and indecent exposure.
