ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Aljeuel Steel Jr., 27, on multiple firearm-related charges.
On June 16, around 12:30 a.m., officers received alerts that four shots had been fired in the 500 block of Locust Street by a shot spotter system. A witness told authorities he saw Steel shooting a pistol in the air.
The witness also provided officials with a video showing the suspect shooting the firearm.
When police spoke to Steel, he admitted that he was upset because of a personal matter, which resulted in him shooting the pistol in the air.
Steel told officers he is gang-affiliated, but is not currently active.
He is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm that caused endangerment, two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm by a gang member and possession of a stolen firearm.
