(WPHL) — A Philadelphia chef has won a James Beard Award.
Phila Lorn, the chef and owner of Mawn, has been awarded the Emerging Chef award from the James Beard Foundation.
The James Beard Awards are considered to be one of the most prestigious honors recognizing exceptional talent in the culinary and food media industries.
In an interview with the James Beard Award, Lorn said, ” For us to open up a small little noodle shop and now I’m sitting here having an interview with you, absolutely mind blowing.”
Mawn is a Cambodian-owned noodle shop in South Philadelphia featuring dishes from various Southeast Asian countries.
On its website, Mawn is advertised as “a noodle house with no rules,”.
