BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Reverend Jimmy Swaggart is in the hospital after suffering cardiac arrest early Sunday morning.
What was meant to be a joyful Father’s Day took a serious turn when Reverend Jimmy Swaggart suffered sudden cardiac arrest. Even at 90, Rev. Swaggart is known for his unstoppable drive.
“He is not a slow-down 90 years old, he is a full steam ahead 90 years old,” said representative Megan Kelly. “So he has had a few falls, you know, and his health has not been great,” said Megan Kelly, Jimmy Swaggart Ministries Public Relations Representative.
Now in the ICU, Swaggart’s family is asking for prayers, with his son Donnie Swaggart leading the charge.
“We are asking for continued prayer, and we will do our best by social media to keep everyone apprised of Dad’s status,” said Donnie.
Despite the health scare, the SonLife Broadcasting Network won’t miss a beat. Rev. Swaggart’s sons, Donnie and Gabriel, will continue carrying the torch.
“They are going to continue, and that was something they felt was Rev. Swaggart’s wishes, and this is his vision and they want to continue it,” said Kelly. “They said they want to keep going forward and they aren’t going to stop.”
For now, the Swaggart family is asking for prayers—and for viewers to keep tuning in. For daily updates on Reverand Swaggart, you can visit the Jimmy Swaggart Facebook page.
