WEST VALLEY CITY (ABC4) — The family of the 8-month-old boy killed in the deadly WestFest shooting are grieving their loss and turning to the community for support.

Anderson and Mehili Garcia, the parents of the boy, created a GoFundMe campaign

to raise funds to return their son to Guatemala, “so he can rest in peace surrounded by our family and loved ones.”

“What was meant to be a joyful Father’s Day celebration at the WestFest Carnival in West Valley, Utah, became the most heartbreaking night of our lives. Our precious 8-month-old baby (one of our twin sons) was tragically taken from us in the crossfire of senseless gun violence,” they wrote.

They said that any money given to the campaign will go to cover the costs of transporting their baby to Guatemala and giving him the “proper burial he deserves.”
