BEATTYVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Kentucky State Police is investigating after two people were found dead on Monday in a Lee County home during a wellness check.

Troopers said the Lee County sheriff called around 4:22 p.m. and said the two were found dead inside the home on Sally Davis Road in Beattyville.

Initial investigations show that Bearl Ashcraft Jr., 48, reportedly shot his girlfriend, Hayley Davidson, 28, before taking his own life, according to KSP.

A release noted that both were declared dead at the scene by the Lee County Coroner’s Office and taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.

The cause of the shooting is not known at this time, and the investigation is still ongoing.
