SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4) — A Salt Lake City home is a total loss after a 2-alarm broke out early Sunday morning.
Salt Lake City Fire Department confirms that they received multiple calls of smoke in the area of 800 West 400 North just before 8 a.m. Sunday morning. When firefighters arrived, there was heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence.
Firefighters were able to search the house and confirm that there was no one in the home. Due to the nature of the fire, a second alarm was called out to help protect neighboring houses. No other homes or structure were damaged.
Due to the damage, the house has been declared a total loss. Salt Lake City Fire says they had to let the house burn down in some areas in order to gain access to other areas that were smoldering. They add this is the reason why there has been lingering smoke throughout the day.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
