Over 250 take part in protest on MH square Saturday

Saturday saw over 250 protesters on the Mountain Home square voicing their opinions as part of the nationwide ‘No Kings’ protest.

The west side of the courthouse grounds was filled with people waving signs and American flags. The group was engaged in call and response messages and some gave speeches over megaphone. Highway 62 was lined with protesters as drivers honked or shouted in support or opposition of the group. Many gathered on the courthouse lawn in chairs beneath the shade of trees to escape the afternoon sun.

At the Veterans Plaza 2000, across from the square, a smaller but vocal group of around 25 pro Trump supporters gave voice in opposition with their own sign, flags and chants.

Local law enforcement was out roaming about the crowd with their impression being that it was a peaceful gathering. One attendee commented that they were impressed with the peaceful and communal nature of the group, stating that regardless of which side of the issues people sided with, it was good to see folks in Baxter County expressing themselves and making their voices heard.
