Merced man killed amid dispute with neighbor, police say

MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man is dead and his neighbor was arrested after a dispute in Merced Friday evening, the Merced Police Department announced.

Just before 8:20 p.m. police responded to the area of 25th and G streets for reports of a man down.

Upon arrival, officers reported locating a dead man who was suffering from blunt force trauma.

Detectives responded and ultimately identified the person responsible as 59-year-old Theodore Arevalo. 

They say Arevalo was the victim’s neighbor and report the two were involved in some sort of dispute before the assault happened.

Police confirm Arevalo was booked into the Merced County Jail on a charge of homicide.
