LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — A former University of Louisville basketball star, Russ Smith, was arraigned Monday.
WDRB in Louisville said Smith, 34, was not in court, but his attorney entered a not guilty plea on charges including driving under the influence and reckless driving.
According to a police report, a detective saw a vehicle with an expired registration plate. Before the stop, Smith allegedly made an illegal U-turn from a “straight only” lane, cutting across multiple traffic lanes and a crosswalk.
After the stop, the officer noted the smell of alcohol, according to the citation. Smith allegedly admitted to having consumed two pours of bourbon, neat, before driving.
The arrest report said Smith failed a walk-and-turn test and had a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.073, while the legal limit is 0.08.
