New documentary explores Portland’s first ranked-choice voting experience

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A new documentary looks back on Portland’s first experience with ranked-choice voting.

Eye on Northwest Politics participated in the film, titled “The Choice,” which primarily followed two candidates, activist Candace Avalos and Portland police officer Eli Arnold.

Producer Lisa Erspamer and director Sam Mirpoorian joined Eye on Northwest Politics to discuss why they focused on the topic of ranked-choice voting and what they learned.
