MOREHEAD, Ky. (FOX 56) — Morehead State University (MSU) is celebrating a milestone this weekend for a service that has brought news from around the world to eastern Kentucky airwaves for generations.
University leaders took to social media on Friday to announce that June 15 marks 60 years of WMKY‘s service to eastern Kentucky.
“From its humble beginnings with a four-hour broadcast day and just 10 watts of power, WMKY has grown into a 50,000-watt regional powerhouse, offering 24-hour programming and vital public service to more than twenty counties,” the station’s staff wrote.
To listen to WMKY on its anniversary broadcast, you won’t need a dial; just stream online here.
