SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Thousands of attendees packed Library Square at the University of Utah on Saturday for the first of two ‘No Kings’ protests being held in Salt Lake City.
Today’s protests are two of the 17 total that are being held in cities across in Utah, including Ogden, Logan, Cedar City, and St. George. Each event had their own start time, with the U of U protest happening at 10 a.m. A second protest is planned for 6 p.m. at Pioneer Park.
The protests are part of the “No Kings” movement, with other protests planned nationwide set to coincide with a planned celebration of the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday and President Trump’s 79th birthday.
Officials have urged throughout the week for protests to remain peaceful.
