SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — LSU Shreveport (LSUS) and Great Raft Brewing continue the “Talks on Tap” lecture series with summer events.
On the third Tuesday of each month, LSUS professors hold 45-minute talks on different subjects, followed by Q&A sessions.
In the next session on June 17, “The Science of the Strong: Elevating Youth Sports Performance,” Aaron Adams of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science will explain his work as manager of LSUS’s Human Performance Lab and provide information about how science-based strength training positively impacts adolescent athletes.
On July 15, Amanda Lewis from the Department of Biological Sciences and the LSUS Bass Fishing Team gives insights into fish biology, bass in Louisiana waterways, and the reason for fishing limits.
Dr. Helen Wise, Associate Provost at LSUS, said, “The ‘Talks on Tap’ series offers our community a chance to engage in lively, insightful discussions on research that resonates with real-world interests and challenges. We want to create a space where knowledge is accessible, relevant, and, most importantly, enjoyable.”
“Talks on Tap” events start at 6 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public; food and drink are available for purchase.
