Jongleur staff announces winners of the 2024-25 LSUA art and writing contest

ALEXANDRIA, La (WNTZ) – LSUA’s College of Liberal Arts, Department of English, History, and Humanities, and the staff of the Jongleur are proud to announce the winners of the 2024-25 LSUA Art and Writing Contest! The contest is held to give students a platform, encouragement, and reward for artistic and academic endeavors, in addition to securing submissions to the Jongleur.

There are four categories to which students submit work: fiction, poetry, art, and photography. Each winner will receive a certificate at an awards ceremony at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year. This year’s winners are:

Fiction 

1st place – “Miasma” by Audrey Jordan 

2nd place – “Therapy is in Session” by Taylor Gardner  

3rd place – “The Oddity” by Tanek Mouser 

Honorable Mention – “The Return of Axel” by Eva Juneau 

Poetry  

1st place – “Deer in Headlights” by Seneca Cox 

2nd place – “Stick-A-Stack Man” by Tanek Mouser 

3rd place – “I sit upon My Throne” by Zayne Randall 

Honorable Mention – “Spitting Image” by Kaleigh Stutson 

Honorable Mention – “There’s a Certain Pain of Knowing” by Kaleigh Stutson 

Art  

1st place – “Self Portrait” by Rebekah Smith 

2nd place  – “Pillars of Creation” by Lacie Grossie  

3rd place – “Flower” by Aaron Pentz
