Freeport man who sold cocaine to confidential informant given 10 years in federal prison

FREEPORT, Ill. (WGN) — A Freeport man who sold cocaine to a confidential informant has been handed a decade-long prison sentence.

Paris Walker, a 39-year-old Freeport resident, has been sentenced to ten years in federal prison for knowingly and intentionally distributing cocaine between 2019 and 2022, Andrew Boutros, U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Illinois, announced Friday.

According to prosecutors, Walker pleaded guilty earlier this year to one count of distribution of a controlled substance.

Prosecutors said during his trial, Walker admitted that he knowingly and intentionally distributed cocaine to a confidential government informant between 2019 and 2022.

In addition to the sales, Walker also admitted that he had possessed cocaine on multiple occasions with the intent to distribute it.

Prosecutors said the total amount of cocaine that led to Walker’s arrest and conviction was at least 30.3 grams.

Walker’s sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Iain Johnston during a hearing Thursday in federal court in Rockford.

Prosecutors did not provide a booking photo for Walker.
