Driver killed after veering off road, hitting tree in Albany

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A driver was killed in Albany after officials say he drove off the road, slid down an embankment and hit a tree early Friday afternoon.

Just before 1:30 p.m., Benton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a crash involving a single vehicle on Scenic Drive.

On arrival, deputies say they found a black Subaru Forester had veered off the road and slid down a steep embankment before hitting a tree.

The driver, identified as 36-year-old Ethan Glaser, died from his injuries.

Officials say early evidence showed the car had been driving southbound on Scenic Drive, but they are unsure at this time how the driver lost control of the vehicle.

They added no other passengers or vehicles appeared to be involved.

As a result, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has further information is encouraged to contact the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
