
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — One child is in a non-life-threatening condition after being stabbed by a man in the Anthony Wayne Village neighborhood on Fort Wayne’s southeast side.
Officers were first called shortly after 1:30 p.m. on reports of a stabbing at the corner of South Anthony Boulevard and Colonial Avenue.
According to a Public Information Officer with the Fort Wayne Police Department, told WANE 15 at the scene that a 27-year-old man, wearing a “Scream” mask, was seen stabbing an 11-year-old, according to a witness. The 11-year-old was stabbed in the abdomen and taken to an area hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
The 27-year-old man was later identified in a release from FWPD as Trayveon Sewell. He was taken into custody after being located by an officer. He faces a single charge of Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 6 Felony.
The incident continues to be under investigation by the FWPD. The exact relationship between the victim and the suspect in unkown at this time.
