FRANKLIN, La. (KLFY)– A two-vehicle fatal crash on U.S. Highway 90 near its intersection with La. 182 occurred yesterday morning. The crash claimed the life Norma Clements, 86, of Centerville, deputies said.
During the Investigation, it was revealed that a 2013 Nissan Rogue, driven by Clements, was stopped facing south on LA Hwy 182 due to a stop sign at the intersection with U.S. Hwy 90. At the same time, a 2022 Ford F600 Super Duty pulling a trailer was traveling west on U.S. Hwy 90, deputies said.
According to deputies, for reasons still unknown, the Nissan allegedly attempted to continue south on LA Hwy 182 by crossing U.S. Hwy 90, but entered the path of the approaching Ford. Despite the driver of the Ford allegedly taking evasive action to avoid a collision, the truck struck the left side of the Nissan.
Clements died due to sever injury and the driver of the Ford was uninjured, deputies said.
The driver of the Ford provided a breath sample which showed no alcohol detected, deputies discovered. A standard toxicology sample was collected from Clements and submitted for analysis, deputies said.
This crash remains under investigation.
