(KRON) — A person on the BART trackway near the North Berkeley station was struck and killed by a train Friday morning around 6:30 a.m., according to the transit agency. BART service between the Downtown Berkeley and Richmond stations was stopped for about an hour before resuming with major delays.
Direct Red Line service between Richmond and Millbrae, which was temporarily halted, resumed around 9 a.m.
No further information was immediately available on the fatality.
Friday’s incident marks the second consecutive day of BART service disruptions due to medical emergencies. On Thursday morning, BART stopped train service between the South Hayward and Bay Fair stations for more than two hours due to a “major medical emergency” at the Hayward station.
