‘No Kings’ Protest Scheduled at Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick’s Langhorne Office on Saturday

Scores of Bucks County residents are expected to be part of the nationwide June 14 No Kings mass mobilization efforts to protest President Donald Trump’s “disruptive and damaging policies.” In fact, as of Wednesday about 940 signed up to attend, according to Indivisible Bucks County spokesperson Kierstyn Zolfo.

“We’re looking for a peaceful event that brings folks together and shows them they are not alone in this time of chaos and stress generated by the administration,” said Zolfo. “We know the goal is to exhaust us, and we’re trying to put together a fun day to remind people of their constitutional values.”

The No Kings event will be held at noon Saturday in the parking lot in front of Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick’s office at One Summit Square in Langhorne. Efforts to reach Fitzpatrick were unsuccessful.

“Honest prosecutors – and the rule of law itself – are under attack by corrupt politicians and unelected billionaires,” said Joe Khan, an attorney and Democratic candidate for Bucks County District Attorney.

The No Kings Day of Defiance is a nationwide, coast-to-coast mass mobilization of protestors who object to the Trump Administration’s “billionaire-first agenda,” its increasing authoritarianism, and the dangerous militarization of civil society.

“We are here to say loud and clear: In a democracy there are no kings – and no one is above the law,” said Dwayne Heisler of the Pennsylvania Policy Center. “Pennsylvanians Together is standing up against cruel cuts to Medicaid and SNAP that will fund tax breaks for billionaires because we believe the government should serve all of us, not just the wealthy few,” Heisler said.

According to the Associated Press, the military parade, buttressed by 18 miles of security fencing along the route in Washington D.C., is set to kick of celebrations next month ahead of the country’s 250th anniversary alongside Trump’s 79th birthday.

“Public officials are supposed to serve the people, not those who seek to corrupt our local government,” said Democrat Donna Petrecco, who is running for Bucks Count Prothonotary.

No Kings protest events are expected in more than 1,500 cities across the county.

Indivisible Bucks County reported more than 190 organizations, among them Indivisible, the American Civil Liberties Union, Human Rights Campaign and Social Security Works are among the protest organizers.

The Bucks County protest is organized by Indivisible Project as part of No Kings campaign advocacy and awareness efforts, the press release said.

For those in Upper Bucks County a No Kings Campaign affiliate event will be held at noon in Quakertown at the downtown parking triangle on West Broad Street. Details for the Quakertown event are available here.
