INDIANAPOLIS — The mother of a 1-year-old girl whose body was found in a dresser inside an abandoned home near Morgantown was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Madison Marshall blamed her former boyfriend, Roan Waters, for the death of her daughter, Oaklee Snow.
Snow was abducted from her father’s house in Oklahoma on Jan. 19, 2023, and was last seen at a “trap house” in Indianapolis before a tragic search ended with the child’s remains being found in a dresser in Morgan County.
Marshall ended up leading police to her daughter’s final resting place and told police that Waters abused the young girl and threw her on the floor at the drug house.
Waters was also sentenced for his part in the girl’s death on Friday. He received a heftier sentence of 45 years in prison.
Last month, both Waters and Marshall agreed to plead guilty to neglect of a dependent resulting in death, a Level 1 felony. Marshall pleaded guilty first, at the end of April, and agreed to testify against Waters.
But Waters didn’t end up going before a jury, deciding in May to accept a plea deal.
Waters’ plea deal came with a 45-year sentence, which was what the judge handed down officially on Friday.
Marshall’s plea deal outlined a minimum sentence of 25 years. The judge officially agreed to this sentence on Friday.
