CHICAGO (WGN) — A man is in custody after officers say he allegedly fired a gun on a CTA bus on the West Side early Friday morning.
Officers said the incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. on a bus that was driving in the 1400 block of North Ashland Avenue in West Town.
According to police, a 34-year-old man was riding on the bus in the area when, for an unknown reason, a gun went off.
Officers said following the gunshot, the bus came to a stop and the suspect allegedly fled the scene.
Authorities responded to the scene and quickly caught up with the suspect and took him into custody.
Following his arrest, a gun was recovered. Offices say charges against the man are now pending.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing and no injuries were reported.
