REXBURG — A 23-year-old man was arrested on June 2 after a cybertip was submitted alleging he downloaded and shared child pornography.
Jackson Hershel Johansson was charged with felony possession and felony distribution of child sex abuse material.
According to the court documents, a cybertip was filed on April 17 to Idaho’s Internet Crimes Against Children Division regarding media of child porn being downloaded to a Kik account.
The document states an officer with the Rexburg Police Department reviewed the tip and obtained a search warrant. The officer reported that the images and videos showed underage children performing various sexual acts.
Johansson was taken in and interviewed at the police department. The document states that after reading the man’s Miranda Rights, Johansson admitted to downloading and sharing the explicit content with other users on Kik.
If convicted, Johansson faces up to 40 years in prison.
Johansson has a preliminary hearing on June 25 at 1:30 p.m. before Magistrate Judge David Hunt.
