IMPD arrest man accused of shooting, killing woman on Indy’s northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS — Police have arrested an Indy man for his alleged role in the shooting death of a woman on the city’s northwest side last year.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of Lamar Willis on Thursday after investigating a shots fired incident that left a woman dead. The investigation began on Sept. 6, 2024, when officers were called to the 3000 block of Lupine Drive in response to a shots fired run.

Officers arrived on the scene and located a woman, who was later identified as Kierra Dotson, suffering from gunshot wounds. Dotson was transported to Eskenazi Hospital, where she later died. She was 37 years old.

Detectives soon identified Willis as a possible suspect in the case, IMPD said. Officers with IMPD’s Violent Crimes Unit placed Willis under arrest Wednesday. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final decision on whether any charges should be filed against Willis.
