COLFAX, La. (WNTZ) — A Mississippi man was arrested following an investigation by the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office into an attempted smuggling operation involving more than $400,000 worth of contraband intended for a federal prison.
Dontrelle Sanford, 35, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was taken into custody and charged with taking contraband into a penal institution, possession with intent to distribute steroids, criminal trespassing, and multiple traffic violations.
According to authorities, Sanford was caught attempting to bring a large quantity of items onto federal prison grounds, including $400,000 worth of tobacco, five cases of vapes, 15 vials of steroids, and several hundred dollars’ worth of food.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be pending.
