Suspect killed in shooting involving Harrison County SWAT team

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A suspect was killed during an officer-involved shooting in Harrison County, authorities said.

Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said the shooting occurred near Turan Road and Highway 67 in Saucier.

According to Martin, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded to a call at a home that had developed into a stand-off situation. She said the unidentified suspect displayed a firearm, resulting in an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and authorities.

The suspect died during the shooting, and no law enforcement officers were injued.

Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) are investigating the shooting. They will share their findings with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
