This system may have enough dynamics to produce an isolated strong storm or two Wednesday afternoon and evening near Cache Valley and the Bear River Range, along with SW Wyoming. The Storm Prediction Center has outlined the northern third of Utah under a Marginal “level 1” risk for strong winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rain with any of these storms that may develop on Wednesday afternoon.
Thursday will feature more sunshine and hot temperatures. A stronger ridge of high pressure will settle overhead towards Friday, leading to drier and hotter conditions just in time for our Father’s Day weekend. High temps will be in the mid to upper 90s for the Wasatch Front. High temps across southern Utah will warm between 100°-105°.
The warm temperatures, low humidity levels, dry vegetation, and gusty southwest winds will lead to a critical fire danger developing across portions of central and southern Utah. Any outdoor burning will be highly discouraged.
