LA Chargers’ Jim Harbaugh wants to bring players to Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The LA Chargers could be practicing in Fresno next year after head Coach Jim Harbaugh expressed his “well-documented” love for the city.

“I want to go to Fresno. I think it’s well documented my love of Fresno,” Harbaugh said before recommending that he “maybe someday retire there, in Fresno.”

After expressing his love, Harbaugh hinted at moving the team to the city for next year’s training camp.

“We want to go to our fans, we want to go to our Charger supporters,” Harbaugh said. “We’ve got great fans in Fresno, so hopefully that will be on the docket next summer.”

In a social media post, Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer welcomed the idea.

“The idea of the Los Angeles Chargers holding training camp in Fresno is exciting – and if they decide to come, we’ll be ready to roll out the red carpet,” Dyer said.

“This city has a strong fan base, a deep love for football, and a community that would show up in full force. Fresno would be a natural fit for a team like the Chargers – and we hope to see Coach Harbaugh here in Fresno very soon.”

The Chargers are currently practicing in El Segundo after beginning mini-camp last weekend – next year’s location has yet to be determined, but rumors hint at Fresno.
