According to a news release from the Indianapolis Airport Authority, city officials and community leaders joined Mario Rodriguez, the executive director of the authority, and Barbara Glass, the authority’s board president, during Thursday’s ceremonial shovel event.
The new Marriott Westin-branded hotel is budgeted at $205,850,000, according to previous reports, and will connect with the west side of the airport’s terminal parking garage. The Indianapolis Airport Authority approved contracts to move forward with building the hotel in February.
Rodriguez said in the release that the new hotel will serve as the “front door to the front door.” Officials also said the hotel will help cement the airport’s reputation as one of the best in North America.
“The original plans for the Midfield Terminal complex included a terminal-connected hotel, and through the years we’ve proceeded with careful and strategic planning to ensure the right build at the right time to increase the value of the airport to the public and increase our contribution to the Central Indiana economic landscape,” Rodriguez said.

Construction of the hotel has begun. The release said that the authority anticipates the new hotel will be completed in December 2027.
