FPD said a business located in the 5000 block of Business Center Drive was robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday at 6:10 p.m. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and did an area check of hotels to find the suspect.
“During the subsequent groundwork, an employee at a local hotel identified the suspect as a guest who had not yet returned to their room,” said Fairfield police in a news release. “Later, at approximately 7:14 pm, while Officer Strickland was still conducting follow-up on the case, a second armed robbery, at another business in the 5000 block of Business Center Drive, was called in.”
Police said the suspect’s description matched the woman who robbed the first business.
Fairfield police said the woman, later identified as 28-year-old Castanya Tompkins, was arrested as she walking on Business Center Drive towards Green Valley Road.
“Officers safely apprehended the woman and recovered the firearm, which was reported stolen out of Richmond, CA, along with a large sum of cash,” added police.
Tompkins was transported to Solano County Jail where she faces charges of robbery and receipt of stolen property.
