EPHRAIM, Utah (
ABC4) — Inside Room 13 at Golden Skyline Assisted Living in Ephraim, you’ll find 105-year-old Nevaline Crompton. But she says you can call her Nevie.
Born on June 12, 1920, Nevie just turned 105 years young.
“Not too many live to be that old,” Nevie said with a laugh.
Crompton’s birthday wish is simple… “I like cake,” she said.
What the birthday girl wants, the birthday girl gets, but don’t expect her to sugarcoat it. After a few bites of her cupcake, Nevie was asked how it tasted.
“Dry,” she said.
Her review may be blunt—but her spirit is still sweet. Despite being in the triple digits, Nevie says she doesn’t feel her age.
“I don’t even have aches and pains,” Nevie told ABC4. She doesn’t show it either. Aside from being a little hard of hearing, Nevie is sharp as a tack—and always on the move.
“Sometimes I don’t know where I’m going… but I can get around pretty good,” she said.
Nevie’s CNA, Elsey Olson, says “pretty good” is an understatement and that she will run you over if you don’t get out of her way.
“She’s a spitfire,” Olson says. “Every time I walk in the room, she’s smiling and waving—yelling because she can’t hear—and telling me how old she is. But she doesn’t feel old.”
So, what’s Nevie’s secret to 105 full years?
“I don’t know. Just eat right. That’s all I know,” Nevie said before finishing a cupcake.
In the meantime, Nevie says she’s just going to keep on keeping on “until God takes me or wants me.”
