‘Dangerous crime spree’: Man arrested for armed robberies in Clyde

CLYDE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A man has been arrested in Clyde after a string of armed robberies described by police as a “dangerous crime spree.”

On June 11, the Clyde Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Jacob Arriaga on a charge of Aggravated Robbery, a first-degree felony. Shortly after securing the warrant, officers spotted Arriaga inside a local business and moved quickly to arrest him without incident, citing concerns about a firearm reportedly used in previous robberies.

“This investigation encompassed a lot of moving parts and involved several law enforcement agencies. These agencies worked together and did so tirelessly to progress the investigation in an effort to achieve the same goal, which was to locate the individual responsible and put an end to his dangerous crime spree,” the Clyde Police Department shared online.

The firearm allegedly used in the robberies was recovered during the investigation and was found to have been reported stolen out of Stephens County.

Clyde PD expressed gratitude for the support received from the Abilene Police Department, the Callahan County Sheriff’s Office, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

“To the citizens of Clyde, thank you for being understanding and patient with us. I know it’s difficult at times to see a large law enforcement presence and not know what is going on. Sometimes we can speak on those matters that may draw such a presence, when at other times we cannot. In whole, we do our best to serve you all, and we hope this is known to the masses,” Clyde PD shared.

Jacob Arriaga was booked into jail on two counts of Aggravated Robbery and one count of Driving Without a License. His total bond was set at $250,434.
