Man arrested in shooting death of woman in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police announced a man was arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of a woman on Jayne Avenue.

Detective Tommie Brown, with the Jackson Police Department (JPD), said Andrew Sawyer, 28, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. on June 11. He was charged in connection to the death of Carrie Lotasha Fields, 33.

The shooting occurred in the 3600 block of Jayne Avenue on June 10. Fields was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Sawyer was booked into the city jail. Brown said a second person of interest is being sought in this case.
