Entergy preparing power grid for storms

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Entergy and some city council members showcased work being done to enhance the power grid Tuesday, June 10.

According to Entergy they are working on 63 projects. They focused on their installment of new power poles along General DeGaulle Drive.

The work is being done with $100 million from the city, not from customer’s electric bills.

Entergy said they are aiming to keep power outages below a week after a storm.

“Strengthening our power grid is one of the most important things that we can do to improve quality of life in our city, also improve public health, and also really help our local businesses,” said Councilwoman Helena Moreno.

Entergy said the improvements will be completed in 2025 and 2026.
