Eastern Idaho Public Health offering free GIFT rides to treatment and recovery programs

IDAHO FALLS – Eastern Idaho Public Health has announced a new transportation option for those attending treatment and recovery programs in Idaho Falls.

Rides to Recovery, organized by EIPH, which is partnering with Greater Idaho Falls Transit (GIFT), is using Idaho opioid settlement funds to provide transportation to and from treatment and recovery programs/services for those with an opioid use disorder and other co-occurring substance use disorders/mental health conditions, according to a news release from EIPH.

“Transportation plays a crucial role in substance misuse treatment and recovery program participation. Reliable transportation influences an individual’s ability to attend recovery meetings, treatment sessions, and other important parts of their recovery process,” says the release.

The program is a one-year pilot project that is currently scheduled to run from June 2025 until June 30, 2026.

GIFT On-Demand provides point-to-point rides within the city limits of Idaho Falls and will assist the Rides to Recovery program by offering free rides to and from the following locations in Idaho Falls:

• Behavioral Health Crisis Center – 1650 North Holmes Avenue
• Brick House Recovery – 1020 Landbank Street
• Center for Hope – 530 East Anderson Street
• District 7 Treatment – 254 East Street Suite B
• Full Spectrum Psychology – 675 East Anderson Street.
• Ideal Option – 380 North Capital Avenue Suite 1
• Stewards of Recovery – 685 1st Street

During the program, transportation to and from Eastern Idaho Public Health, located at 1250 Hollipark Drive, will also be offered for free to people seeking public health services.

“If you participate in recovery or treatment services at any of locations listed above, please reach out to your case manager, counselor, peer support representative, etc. to learn more about this program and how you can access Rides to Recovery transportation services,” says the release.

Individuals wanting to participate in the program can download the GIFT On-Demand app to schedule service rides. The app is available on the Apple App Store or Google Play.

According to the release, there is no guarantee that the project will continue past June 30, 2026.
